Good Faith Estimate

As of January 1st, 2022, the ‘No Surprises Act’ ensures that patients do not receive any unanticipated bills from medical providers who are not within their insurance network.

Per that legislation, you have a right to receive a ‘Good Faith Estimate’ of what charges are to be expected from any medical appointment, including a psychotherapy session. The estimate will outline what the up-front costs, inclusive of any additional fees, are

You have the right to:

  • Request this estimate in writing in advance of scheduling an appointment or receiving any sort of psychological services.

  • Not be billed more than what your estimate stated.

  • Go through a federally administered independent dispute resolution process if your bill exceeds your estimate by $400 or more.
